Workshops & Series

The Yamas and Niyamas Book Club by Deborah Adele

The Yamas and Niyamas are yoga’s ethical guidelines and are foundational to all yogic thought. They comprise the first two limbs of Yoga’s eight-fold path and provide the toolkit you need for skillful living.

In this book each Yama and Niyama has been given its own chapter in which the philosophy of the guideline is woven with practical examples and stories. At the end of the chapter Deborah provides questions that challenge the reader to find deeper insight.

Once a month you will meet and have a discussion of two of the principles in Deborah Adele’s book The Yama’s and Niyamas. Giuditta Paci will be host for the book club and we will meet the last Tuesday of the month at 7:45 pm at the Westside Studio. The book club will run for 4 months. Students should come prepared to share their insights after reading the two principals and worked with the questions at the end of each Yama or Niyama.

This event is free and everyone is welcome to attend. The book can be purchased at any of your favorite book stores, the price will vary slightly depending on who buy from. Amazon or local book stores may have used ones available at a lower price. Please read the introduction before the first meeting. Book clubs are a great way to build community and meet new people with similar interests.

7:45-8:45 PM on 1/29, 2/26, 3/26, & 4/30

COST Free for all who would like to attend!

Functional Anatomy Workshop

Alignment is a hot topic among Yoga Teachers & Practitioners.
However, the way to safe and effective posture and movement is written in the bones of the individual. Anatomical structure is unique to each Yogi; therefore, alignment is infinite in its possibilities.
In this portion of our 200HR & 300HR Teacher Trainings which we are opening up to the public, Joe Barnett will share the wisdom of his long time mentor Paul Grilley blended with his own method of hands-on anatomical study. The training offers Yoga teachers and serious students the tools to realize their own unique anatomy and the analytic skills to help guide others into their own personal explorations and body awareness.
The workshop series includes lectures and slideshows on anatomical variations. However, the bulk of the training is experiential and interactive.
You’ll Learn:
– Functional Alignment
– The 14 Segments of the Skeleton
– Myofascial Target Areas of Thigh and Torso
– Range of Motion tests
– Tension vs Compression
