From Hand to Heart: Trauma Informed Training for Educators

Hand to Heart is yoga therapy to help heal the trauma of lockdown drills and gun violence in schools.

In the 2017 – 2018 school year, more than 4.1 million students participated in a lockdown or a lockdown drill, according to an analysis by the Washington Post. As a parent, as adults and as a community we can feel helpless and frustrated as we ask ourselves, “How do we protect our children from these issues?”

While these drills are required to keep our children safe, they should be done with care. Children are being trained to anticipate a terrifying and extremely unlikely outcome to happen to them. Teachers are over burdened with having to do more with less and are forced to wear many hats acting as a coach, counselor, parent and friend.

We created Hand to Heart, a yoga training experience, as a way to empower teachers caring for our children daily on the front lines. We can begin to heal our children by arming our teachers with the tools to bring peace and mindfulness to the classroom. These strategies include trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness practices, backed by the most recent research into how healing, connection and growth work. Teachers receive robust instruction backed by yogic and scientific sources and proven approaches to ease stress and transform traumatic experiences. Along their healing journey teachers receive ongoing community support.

Monthly Meditation Group

Mental Wellness Workshop

We are more stressed then ever before. When that pressure becomes an unreasonable part of our lives, causing us to become sick, unhealthy and anxious it is a serious issue.
 
Long term stress can damage the organs, weaken the immune system, even putting us at risk for cancer and depression.
 
Acupuncture deactivates parts of the brain which trigger our flight or fight so that we can re-balance and gain relief from the dangerous effects of stress. Balancing the nervous system this way allows us to improve our mental and physical health and resilience. 
 
Our community Acupuncture clinic will run one Sunday per month from 11am-2pm.

2020 Intention Infused Mala Making Workshop

During this workshop you will enjoy the meditative and healing experience of blessing and infusing your own mala beads with your own vibrations and intentions. Each bead carries with it the energy from its source and your intentions.
