Joni Young received her 200-HR and 300/500-HR yoga teaching certifications from Grassroots Yoga. She also received her Corrective Exercise Specialist certification through the National Association of Sports Medicine. Joni has been teaching yoga since 2014, and first started her yoga practice to help ease stress that was contributing to neck and shoulder pain. Although she found her first class to be quite difficult, she was hooked and continued her practice. For Joni, yoga is a vehicle for getting out of her head, connecting breath with movement, and finding and re-finding the balance in life.
All Levels Yoga Class
Joni’s favorite way to practice and teach all levels yoga is as a slow, vinyasa-style flow. A slow flow keeps yogis attuned to the rhythm of their breath and the alignment of their body, and it also gives you a chance to settle in and savor each pose rather than rushing on to the next one. Joni’s classes involve interesting entries into classic poses, and flows that include standing, balance, and backbend poses. She focuses on variations within each pose, offering people choices that allow them to experience the benefits of a challenging pose while working towards it.
